Miss Carla Sharpe is a graduate of the University of Cape Town Commerce Faculty and the International Space University Executive MBA Programme. She is currently reading for her PhD in Space Science Economics. Carla is a founding member of the South African Space Association as well as Women in Aerospace Africa. She is also a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL). Her research and papers focus on the sustainable development of space activities within developing nations from an economic and policy perspective. Carla currently leads business and economic development for the Square Kilometre Array Africa (SKA Africa) Project Office. She has co-organised several symposia and conferences in South Africa including the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), hosted in Cape Town in 2011.
