Daniel Furst

Dr. Daniel Fürst (Swiss, born in 1967) joined RUAG Space as Head of External Relations for RUAG Space Switzerland in November 2009. Since June 2011 his function has been extended on RUAG Space Division level. In this role, Daniel Fürst co-ordinates and expands the ongoing dialogue between RUAG's national entities in Switzerland, Sweden and Austria and their respective institutional and political partners. He is also responsible for RUAG Space's representation in international associations such as Eurospace and others.

Prior to joining RUAG Space, Daniel Fürst was Director of the Swiss Space Office (SSO), the space affairs division of the Swiss Confederation. As Director of the SSO, Daniel Fürst also headed the Swiss delegation to the European Space Agency (ESA) and from June 2007 to June 2008, he was Vice-President of the ESA-Council. Special references amongst the main achievements of the Swiss Space Office during his directorship deserve the elaboration of the Swiss Space Policy as well as the for Switzerland successful ESA-Council at ministerial level of The Hague.

Daniel Fürst obtained a PhD at the Institute for Mineralogy and Petrography of the University of Freiburg (CH) in the domain of ceramics. He started his professional career in 1996 at the brick and tile company "Tuileries de Fribourg et Lausanne SA" as Head of Exploitation of two plants. Furthermore, he was responsible for Research and Development.
